The DSU Family Nurse Practitioner Option

  • Prepares an APRN with a solid foundation to diagnose and treat acute, episodic, and chronic illnesses independently or as part of a healthcare team. 
  • Practice experiences are designed to empower students to provide comprehensive medical care to clients across the lifespan with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and overall wellness for all developmental stages.
  • Features a curriculum that supports the growth and maintenance of quality, evidence-based health care. 
  • Emphasizes health disparities, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), Healthy People 2030, diversity, inclusion, and equity of the client in the provision of care.

Delaware State University Nurse Practitioner Program does not accept students from AL, AZ, AR, CO, CA, LA, MS, NY, OK, SD, TN, TX, and WA.

Some states (AL, OR, MN, AK, and WY) have specific requirements for Nurse Practitioner students. It is the student’s responsibility to contact their home State Board of Nursing in advance of the clinical semester to discuss state-specific requirements.
